Land of Lights Milton Keynes 2025

The last time we visited the Land of Lights Milton Keynes was back in December 2023, and it turned out to be such a wonderful festive evening to enjoy just before Christmas. Nestled within the grounds of Gulliver’s Resort, Milton Keynes, the trail takes you on a magical journey of beautifully lit lanterns – each themed area bringing something new to explore, from roaring dinosaurs in Lost World to enchanting Fairy Tale scenes. It truly was a breathtaking experience.

This year, we decided to return for the 2025 season as an alternative to our usual fireworks event and it didn’t disappoint! We booked our tickets online a few weeks before and chose a later time slot so we could enjoy the full effect of the lanterns once it got dark. The glow of each display really pops against the night sky, creating a truly immersive atmosphere.

Great Value and Perfect for All Ages

Tickets cost us £51 for three people, which I think is fantastic value for money considering how much there is to see and do. The trail takes around 45 minutes to an hour to complete, depending on how often you stop for food, drinks, or photos. If you’re visiting with little ones, you might take a bit longer – but that’s part of the fun! What I love about Land of Lights is how relaxed and family-friendly it feels. There’s no rush, you can stroll at your own pace, take in the details, and just enjoy the evening together.

New Additions and Familiar Favourites

The entrance was slightly different from our last visit, though the signature glowing owls were still there to welcome us. We began our journey in Lost World, surrounded by dinosaurs that were every bit as detailed and colourful as we remembered. The craftsmanship and creativity in each display are incredible, from the intricate shapes to the vibrant hues, everything feels thoughtfully designed.

Next, we wandered into the Day of the Dead section, bursting with colour and atmosphere. Nearby, there’s a spot to grab food and drinks, but we skipped it this time since we had a “fake-away” Indian waiting for us at home!

After that came the Animal Kingdom, followed by the Arctic and then the Christmas-themed displays, each transition keeping the walk exciting and full of surprises.

If you fancy something extra, there are optional add-ons like marshmallow roasting (including vegan options), food stalls, and charming gift shops. We decided to keep things simple this year and just enjoy the trail itself, but it’s nice to know there are plenty of extras available.

A Festive Evening to Remember

Although Land of Lights isn’t specifically a Christmas event, it definitely put us in a festive mood. We had Christmas songs playing on the drive over, and by the time we left, I was already itching to get our tree up!

I was slightly disappointed not to see the Alice in Wonderland section this year, it had been replaced, but that’s exactly what keeps this event fresh. Each year brings something new, encouraging families to return and experience it all over again.

Swapping our usual fireworks night for Land of Lights Milton Keynes was such a lovely change. It’s become one of my favourite ways to kick off the festive season, and I can’t recommend it enough if you’re looking for something magical, family-friendly, and full of light.
