I’m a little late posting this, as my latest holiday post went out this week and was all about our fabulous holiday to Ikos Aria.
We started October with a wholesome weekend spent with my brother and my mum’s dog, so that my mum could enjoy a weekend away. If you’re new here, my brother has autism and is older than me. While he is mostly self-sufficient, it’s safer for me to oversee everything when my mum isn’t around. It was a very welcome weekend, as I love spending time with him and the family dog. We enjoyed some lovely walks, and the weekend was as relaxed as possible.
I also spent much of the beginning of the month preparing the final bits for our upcoming holiday to Ikos Aria and our ski trip in December. We enjoyed a lovely lunch with family in Oxford, eating at Victors, which was super lovely. I always love catching up with family. That same weekend, we also had a big shopping trip to Milton Keynes to get the girls sorted with a few bits and some last-minute holiday buys.
eBay sales have been slow this month, which was actually a good thing as we were going away. A couple of items did sell, though, all part of my ongoing effort to declutter and reduce cognitive overload. I love keeping things simple, while still making sure our home feels relevant, stylish and homely.
The girls always seem to have someone coming over, and that has definitely become a weekly thing, which I absolutely love for them. There’s something so lovely about having the house full of laughter, friendship and happy memories.
I had a work meeting to attend in London the day before my annual leave started. Luckily, I was able to head in just for the meeting, then make my way home to finish packing and get the house sorted. We also had a couple of appointments for the girls that day before we flew out.
We then enjoyed our best holiday ever at Ikos Resorts Aria from the 21st to the 27th, which I’ve written all about in a separate post.
The last weekend of the month was Halloween, which we don’t really celebrate. I actually donated all my autumnal and Halloween homeware to our local charity, which freed up so much space in our den. The girls did dress up and head out for the evening, but everything was kept very subtle and modest. They all had a lovely time together.
All in all, October was a really wonderful month for us. Spending time with family meant everything. Being with loved ones really is the best, whether it’s a dog walk, a cuppa and a chat, lunch out or a holiday. I feel so blessed to have such an amazing family.
