Terracotta Kitchen Must Haves

Fully inspired by my mum who has always had impeccable taste, right down to the smallest details like how she stores garlic or keeps her potatoes. I’ve found myself investing in thoughtful pieces to bring that same feeling into our kitchen.

There’s something about stoneware that instantly adds that soft, cottage-country charm. We’re huge fans of Le Creuset too (although my mum still wins hands down on that front). But I truly believe certain pieces are worth the investment, they’re used daily and only get better with time.

Our home is around 30 years old, yet it has a natural character to it. I’ve leaned into that, blending in those quintessential cottage touches to create a space that feels warm, relaxed and lived-in. People often say our home feels cosy, cute and homely – I’ll happily take that.

Even when it comes to serving food, it’s the little things that make all the difference. A Le Creuset butter dish, Royal Doulton plateware, a simple bread basket – it’s never overdone, just thoughtfully considered. Those small details elevate the everyday eating experience in the loveliest, most effortless way.

Recently, I’ve added a few more pieces to our kitchen. Most of them live quietly in cupboards, but for me, it’s all part of the experience – how we store, prepare and present food.

Garlic Keeper

Garlic is a staple in our house – we use it in everything. The girls love cooking too, so it’s aways within reach. Having a proper keeper just makes sense and looks intentional.

Olive Oil Bottle
Another everyday essential. I tend to buy olive oil in large bottles, but decanting into a smaller one has been such a simple upgrade. It looks beautiful on the table, holds a good amount and makes cooking or dressing so much easier.

Potato Storage

We don’t go through huge amounts of potatoes, and I’ll admit—they’ve often just been stored in the fridge. It works, but this feels more intentional. We chose a smaller pot, though larger options. Or, even a simple basket can look just as lovely.

Herb Planter

I’ve always cooked from scratch, so herbs are a must. That said, I do rely on shop-bought packets more than I’d like. I’ve started an outdoor planter with mint, parsley, and basil, and I’m mirroring that indoors too. It’s still a work in progress—but it looks beautiful on the worktop and makes cooking feel that bit more special.

Ramekins

The easiest way to elevate nibbles—olives, stuffed vine leaves, nuts. I’m very much someone who decants everything; packets are opened with scissors and put straight into bowls or onto plates. Serving food properly just feels better, and these little touches make all the difference.

It’s never about having everything on display, it’s about creating a feeling. A kitchen that’s lived in, loved and quietly considered in all the right ways.
