Six months of the year are already behind us. I think everyone is noticing just how quickly time seems to be passing right now.
It’s hard to believe that it’s already been five months since I had to say goodbye to one of my cats, and nearly three months since I had to let her sister go too. I miss them both so much, and the grief is still very much there. They may no longer be here physically, but they’re always with me in spirit. I have their beautiful sleeping cat urns displayed alongside their photos, and they remain a very special part of our home.
June has been another busy month, although not in the obvious, jam-packed kind of way. It’s been filled with work, life admin, lots of shopping, and all those quieter tasks that keep life moving. More importantly, it’s been a month of prioritising myself and my health.
I’ve continued my weight loss journey, and while the progress has been slow, it’s been steady – which I’m learning is actually a really good thing. I’ve always been naturally slim, and even after having the twins, I was back to a size 8/10 within 18 months. However, since the Covid years and turning 40, the weight gradually crept on. Add in several years of stress, and it became something I really struggled to shift. Towards the end of last year, something finally clicked, and I’ve been consistently making healthier choices ever since. I’m not chasing quick results anymore – I’m simply focusing on creating sustainable habits, and I’m proud of the progress I’m making.
June was also a huge month professionally. My corporate role has kept me incredibly busy with some fascinating, detail-heavy projects that really suit the way my brain works. Alongside that, I made a decision that feels both exciting and incredibly empowering – I officially became an independent travel agent. I’m so excited about the opportunities this new venture will bring for both me and my family. I’ve already written more about it here on the blog, and I’ll be sharing plenty more of my journey over the coming months.
If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’ll already know how much I love travelling. It’s always been a huge passion of mine. At the moment, most of the travel content here focuses on our more recent adventures, but over the years I’ve been incredibly fortunate to visit some amazing places around the world. Even more special has been sharing those experiences with my children, and I can’t wait for all the adventures that are still to come.
The girls have also had a lovely month. From shopping trips, catching up with friends and even went back to their old school’s summer fete. It was such a special afternoon for them, seeing former teachers and reconnecting with their Year 6 friends who have all since gone on to different secondary schools. One of the mums even managed to capture a lovely photo of them all together – a memory I’m sure they’ll treasure for years to come. They also managed one horse riding lesson in the month of June. The recent hot weather meant it wasn’t fair on the horses, so a few sessions had to be cancelled, but they’ll be back in the saddle this month, and I know they’re both looking forward to it.
We also enjoyed a wonderful evening with some of our closest friends, spending time bowling, laughing, and catching up. They really are such a beautiful family, and we feel incredibly lucky to have them in our lives. Friendships like these become even more valuable as life gets busier.
I’ve also spent much of June getting organised and ticking off all the life admin, while preparing for our upcoming trips to Center Parcs, Ikos Resort holiday, and our ski holiday. Alongside that, I’ve been creating lots of new content for the blog, my email subscribers, and Pinterest, which has been keeping me happily busy.
It’s all been about making sure everything is in place for the months ahead – at home, with work, for our travels, and just for everyday life. It’s been a lovely balance of family time, catching up with friends, working, creating content, growing my travel business, and taking care of all those little details that often go unnoticed but make such a big difference.
Looking back, June has actually been filled with some pretty significant moments – some exciting, some emotional, and some quietly life-changing. From taking a leap into a new business venture to continuing to prioritise my health and spending quality time with family and friends, it’s been a month that has reminded me how much growth can happen in the everyday. I’m incredibly grateful for it all and excited to see where the second half of the year takes us.
