Spring tried to show up throughout March and in typical British weather style it hailed one minute and was sunny the next. Still, the month felt much kinder mentally. It felt like I was getting on top of things again. The lighter evenings have been a huge win too. I don’t finish work until around 5:30 or 6pm and usually that means stepping out into darkness and cold, so this shift in the season has been very welcome.
We started March by making the most of it with a long walk at a National Trust site. Fresh air, open space and yes, plenty of rain too. There was also another trip to the garden centre for a little mooch, some treats, Jellycats for the kids and essentials for the animals.

In the first week I treated us to dinner at Wagamama because I simply wanted a night off from cooking. As soon as I finished work we headed straight there. We love a spontaneous meal out and the kids are absolute pros with chopsticks. They’ve been going since they were about three and genuinely enjoy trying different dishes.

I also met up with a close friend which is always a highlight. Our favourite thing to do is have a cuppa at the garden centre and wander around. I’ve actually quit coffee recently which you can read about in “Quitting Coffee”. This time we visited a chain garden centre rather than our usual independent spot which made a nice change. I picked up a few bits for an elevated supper which always feels like a small but satisfying win.
Another little treat to myself was a new Amazon Kindle. I sold my old one years ago and donated a lot of books over the past year, though we still have plenty left. I’ve been wanting to get back into reading for a while but I’m quite particular. I tend to choose books where I feel like I’m learning or growing. I’ve started building a small collection and have really enjoyed weaving reading into my night-time routine which I’ll share more about soon. For now you can read about my morning routine.
The girls continued their horse riding lessons, with lovely weather on their side – they’re making such great progress. I also spent a Sunday morning with my mum at a plant-based market which was absolutely delightful and I shared more about it in “Plant-Based Artisan Market”.

We wrapped up a busy school term with bowling and arcades for six of the girls. They really do have the loveliest group of friends. There was also a beautiful family gathering for a surprise 80th birthday which was incredibly special and we finished the month with the girls heading off for a sleepover with a friend.

I promised myself that January and February would be slower, more intentional months and we honoured that. It felt like a gentle reset, a chance to pause and breathe before life picked up pace again. All of it quietly laid the groundwork for March, which truly delivered. The month held a steady rhythm of activity, full yet not overwhelming, and brought with it a sense of hope and a noticeably lighter, more uplifting energy.
