If you’re looking for an honest Aqua Sana Woburn review, particularly of the twilight spa experience, this is very much based on my personal visit – the good, the disappointing and the things I’d consider before booking again.
I’ve been to Aqua Sana Woburn a few times before: once with my mum, once with a friend and once solo – the reason I mention this, is because I went solo again this time and I thought, perhaps that impacted the experience. Each time, I really enjoyed it. Perhaps it’s because we visited during quieter times, but my previous experiences have always been positive. Before this visit, I’d done two day spas and one twilight spa at Aqua Sana Woburn, so I wasn’t going in completely blind.
Having said that, it had been a while since I’d visited, and I’d been toying with the idea of booking a spa day at Aqua Sana again. It’s not exactly on my doorstep, but it’s also not too far for me to travel. I’ve visited various spas over the years, spanning everything from David Lloyd gym spas to well-known Manor House spas and plenty in between.
I find spas such a good place to relax my nervous system. They force me to stop when things start to spiral and life feels overwhelming. Whilst I could have chosen a more local spa, Aqua Sana Woburn appealed because I’d been before and, for the cost, I think you generally get good value for money.
However, if you’re looking for a luxurious and completely peaceful spa experience, it’s worth thinking carefully about when you visit. You may also want to weigh up whether spending a little more on a Manor House spa could offer the experience you’re actually looking for.
Booking the Aqua Sana Woburn Twilight Spa
I opted for the Aqua Sana twilight spa on a Friday, which ran from 4pm until 8pm. It was the best option for me because I didn’t need to take time off work, and the girls were with their dad for the weekend. Although, because of work, I was cutting it fine. I arrived later than planned and then got stuck in the Center Parcs Woburn Forest arrival check-in traffic.
It was a very last-minute spa booking, and I deliberately chose somewhere familiar. I just don’t have the bandwidth at the moment for anything over and above everything I’m already spinning right now. I wanted to get in, relax, have my treatment, eat my food and go home. Simple.
I checked in at reception and immediately realised I’d forgotten my flip-flops. Another knock-on effect of the general life stresses! So, £6.75 later, I was the owner of a pair of Aqua Sana flip-flops. I’m not totally mad about it, but it was still annoying when I have plenty of perfectly appropriate spa footwear sitting at home.
I picked up a robe – forgot the towel – and headed into the changing room to get into my swimwear. Once I’d donned the locker wristband, I took a photo of my locker number. I always do this so I don’t forget it. Top tip if you’re currently maxing out your brain power.

What Is the Aqua Sana Woburn Forest Spa Like?
Once sorted, I made my way into the Forest Spa. Aqua Sana Woburn has 25 different spa experiences split between themes including Blossom, Herbal, Fire & Ice, Mineral and Sensory. A couple of the spa rooms were closed for maintenance during my visit. The foot spas also seemed to be faulty as they weren’t draining properly.
There are rainfall showers too, which are wonderful, but I didn’t want to get my hair soaking wet as I knew I still had my treatment and a meal in the café. I particularly like the inhalation, steam and sauna rooms. I would have loved to have spent some time in the pool areas, but they were packed and far too busy for me. I think choosing a Friday night was a faux pas on my part.
I don’t like big crowds and find it all a bit overwhelming. When I’m going to a spa, I’m specifically trying to escape that feeling, so the busy pool areas weren’t for me. There are plenty of little nooks where you can sit and curl up. Although, in the heat we’ve been experiencing, that was the last thing I wanted to do.
Although it was to my advantage, as most sauna’s and steam rooms were empty, so I got to film a few shots of the saunas (vlog link below).
I was also only at the spa for a relatively short amount of time, given that I had a treatment and meal booked. Perhaps if I’d booked an Aqua Sana day spa rather than the twilight spa, I would have relaxed more.

My Neck, Shoulder and Back Massage at Aqua Sana
I managed to fit in a few spa experiences before heading off for my neck, shoulder and back massage. I was really looking forward to this part. I know I’m holding a lot of tension in these areas because of work, posture and general day-to-day stress.
As the treatment was only 25 minutes, it didn’t feel like enough time to properly relax. As lovely as the therapist was, she talked throughout the treatment. It also felt quite rushed, almost as though she couldn’t wait to get me out of the treatment room and back into the spa.
It would have been nice to have been sent to a separate relaxation room afterwards, just to take a moment before heading back out into the busy spa. For me, a treatment is as much about mentally switching off as it is about the massage itself, and I didn’t really get that from this experience.
Vegan Food at Aqua Sana Woburn
I enjoyed a few more spa experiences before heading off to have the food included in the twilight spa package I’d booked. I’d made it clear that I needed vegan and non-alcoholic options, and the team were able to happily cater for this.
The food was OK. It’s pretty much the type of food I make myself anyway, and I left a couple of the dishes because they simply didn’t taste nice at all. The food was also warm. Nothing seemed to have been refrigerated, so I had no idea how long everything had been sitting out.
The glass of non-alcoholic prosecco was fine. By this point, though, I couldn’t wait to get everything eaten and leave. I’d opted to sit outside, thinking it would be peaceful and I’d be overlooking the woodland. Instead, I was seated further back and felt a little on show. Whilst I’m comfortable being on my own, you don’t necessarily want to make it too obvious.
The Final Part of My Aqua Sana Twilight Spa
I decided to spend the final part of my visit in the Sensory Spa to try to unwind a little more. The Aqua Sana Woburn twilight spa finished at 8pm, but I headed to the changing room at around 7:35pm. I got dressed and left because I wanted to beat the mad rush I knew would ensue when 8pm arrived. I managed to leave at around 7:50pm and headed home.
Is Aqua Sana Woburn Worth It?
Overall, I was a little disappointed with my Aqua Sana Woburn twilight spa experience. I expected more, especially when time feels so precious. It was good value for money, though, and perhaps this was the moment I realised that I need to spend a little more for a higher-level spa experience and the type of relaxation I’m actually looking for.
If you’re already staying at Center Parcs Woburn Forest and have the chance to visit Aqua Sana, then great. I think it’s definitely worth experiencing. However, I wouldn’t book expecting a completely peaceful and luxurious spa experience unless you can time your visit for when it’s quieter.
Perhaps a midweek Aqua Sana day spa would work out better. Aqua Sana Woburn has clearly gained popularity over the years, which is great. For me, though, the timing of my visit, the crowds and the overall experience meant I left feeling a little underwhelmed rather than completely relaxed.
Would I visit Aqua Sana Woburn again?
I’m on the fence and if I did – I’d choose a midweek day spa, avoid a Friday evening and give myself much more time to actually stop and unwind.
